Antique Linens - Christening Robe (VC19)
Apart from the obvious use of a baby wearing this for its Christening these antique Christening robes do look lovely displayed hanging on a wardrobe in a pretty bedroom or bathroom.
This robe measures in 38 inches in length and the chest measurement is 21 inches.
The pretty broderie anglaise extends 15 inches up from the lower edge and the yoke, neckline and sleeve edges have lace edging. Under the yoke is 'braid' through which a ribbon can be threaded. (I have inserted coloured fabric under the broderie anglaise in the second photo so that you can see the detail).
There is no damage to the robe. It is beautifully white and has been freshly laundered.
