Antique Linens - French Double Eiderdown Cover
I have never seen or heard of one of these before until the French lady I bought it from explained to me (by showing, not language!) its use. I don't know if these were peculiar to France but I have never come across one in the UK.
Measuring 74 inches length by 56 inches width it is a double eiderdown cover intended to be used instead of a separate sheet (pre-duvet, I suppose). The eiderdown slots inside this cover and the tape across the middle keeps it in place. This way, only the cover needs to be washed.
The cover is very pretty with white on white embroidery along the top and bottom edges. The tape along the middle is also white embroidery with flowers depicted (see pics). This eiderdown cover is in perfect condition with no marks, mends, tears, etc. It is beautifully white and I have freshly laundered, starched and ironed it.
If you like this but do not have an eiderdown I am willing to include this double eiderdown which is photographed. The side showing is pink cotton but the underside is a nylon floral material (this obviously would not show). If you would like separate photos of the eiderdown please email me. If you would like this included then the postage would be more - please let me know before ordering.
