Gardenalia - Riddle (GA264)
This garden riddle would have been used in a Victorian garden, perhaps on a large estate. I can think of no other reason why it would have initials (F.K) other than to mark where or to whom it belonged. These initials appear twice along the edge where it is also marked according to its grade (1 3/4). It measures 23.5 inches diameter and 3.5 inches height.
It is in lovely condition and has been well looked after over the years. There are some woodworm holes but these do not appear to be active.
Garden riddles look lovely displayed with other vintage gardenalia in the garden, potting shed, greenhouse or even a farmhouse kitchen. They also make great utensil/pan racks when hung from the ceiling in the kitchen.
(This is the lower riddle in the first photo).
