The work that must have gone into this bedspread!  This very unusual (if not unique) handmade bedspread has a butterflies theme and the predominant colours are browns and oranges.  There are fabric pictures of eleven different butterflies and around each of these is a square of beige velvet surrounded by a square of floral patterned material and another square of co-ordinating striped material.  Each of these squares are separated by pale orange material and a darker striped material.  The top and bottom are edged in a brown wool material.

The bedspread is lined with beige cotton material and the only fault is this has a small pen mark (not visible from the right side,).  The whole bedspread is in excellent condition and the workmanship is of the highest quality.

Measuring 90 inches length x 65 inches width this is a single bed cover which drapes to the floor but it could also look good on a double bed.  It has a very definite vintage look about it, however a twelfth butterfly has been embroidered with 1980 in the middle of it so it is not that old.  'From Mother with Love' has also been embroidered on the reverse.
